The Book of Revelation Made Clear (Tim LaHaye and Timothy E. Parker)

As a child, the Book of Revelation fascinated and, at the same time, scared me. There was just something mysterious about the symbols and disasters illustrated in the book.

My preception of the chapter only changed when I became a true Christian and I realized it's not meant to be understood in its own; instead, it should be read once you earn a firm foundation of faith and knowledge.

It also should be read through a firm Christian perspective and not as a horror book meant to scare. That's why it is important to study it. Enter the book "The Book of Revelation Made Clear" by Tim LaHaye and Timothy E. Parker. This is a book written as a study guide which dissects the sections of Revelation, helping the readers understand the symbols and points correctly.
The book is clearly well-researched and it is written by authors who have established their credibility to speak about the Bible. However, I think the entire book lacks depth because it doesn't consciously help a person make the right Christian decisions. After all, the Revelation is a very important book for Christians.

But it is a study guide meant to educate the reader. Through this, one will really understand the specific details. I think the authors must have chosen to focus on the scholarly aspect of teaching the Revelation randy than on the general divine message. If this was really the intention, I think they did a great job at making the Revelation easier to study!

Will I recommend it? I will recommend this book to Christian learners who have already read the Bible and have a firm foundation of faith. I imagine this will be great for independent or homebased study; in fact, the authors should make guides like this for every important book in the Bible.

However, I don't think this book works for readers who have none of the above and are seeking to know the relevance of the Revelation and what they should do if they want to follow Christ. This is a book that tackles the "what's" and not the deeper "why's." In this case, another book might do the trick!

DISCLOSURE: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers review program. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions I have expressed are my own.
