What I Want for my Birthday

I'm an old soul.

This Saturday, I'll be 24, but to tell you the truth, I feel much much older. Not physically (thank God!) but emotionally and mentally and, maybe, spiritually, too. And I attribute this not to motherhood.
My 2-year old made this "cake" for me. It was modeled after his own car-themed birthday cake. He said "Pi burtday to you!"

Let me tell you a secret:

Ever since I started school, when I was around 5 or 6 years old, I already felt much older than my classmates. Ironically, I was always one year younger than all of my classmates all throughout my academic "career," but it didn't feel that way. Somehow, I just felt more mature than they were. And many can attest to that. In fact, when I was in first grade, I felt happier to be around with my friends' moms than with them.

I have the feeling that being an old soul was one of the things that helped me cope with motherhood so easily!

I am thankful, though, that to strike the balance, I also have a young heart. Win-win, right?

So this year, I'm turning 24. Still very young, but I love to think I am more mature than the rest of my peers. After all, I'm mothering a 2-year old! I guess this old soul of mine has also affected the things that I want to attain in my life.

I think I got into the phase of being materialistic for only a short while in my life - that was when I started being a working student back in college. Today, while material things give me temporary joy, I aim to have "higher" standards of happiness. For my 24th year, these are some of what I hope to achieve with God's grace and in his divine timing:

My Name Isn't Even That Hard To Spell!

Are you a victim of misspelled names?

I am.

I know so many people whose names always get misspelled, but theirs is understandable because they have unique names. I mean, when I was in second grade, my adviser's name was Tepane. I'm not kidding.

That was years ago, and until now, I still couldn't decide whether she was supposed to be a "Stephanie" or a "Tiffany." Maybe her parents couldn't decide.

If I were her, I wouldn't blame people for misspelling my name.

But my case is different. I think of my name as rather simple: Marie Angeli. Plain and common. Still, it's understandable when people spell my first name as "Mary" and the second name as "Angelie." They're acceptable because they're still, well, real names.

Now, I'm in the middle of yet another online transaction, and upon tracking my order, I see this:
Wait, wait. What was that again?
Marie Angeh??? Seriously?! Hahahaha is that even a name? I really found this funny and I couldn't stop looking at the webpage because I must have been imagining things. But no, it's really "Angeh." I can easily imagine how the sender's penmanship must have looked like, but it would take guts for the Xend employee to type my name as "Angeh" rather than the name that makes sense, "Angeli."

I salute you! Hahaha ano ba? Brain soup much.

After getting over the name part and proceeding to actually tracking my package, I headed over to the link to LBC as indicated below.
I felt relief when I found out my package was already on its way, and I felt more relief when a more sensible LBC employee figured out what my second name was.
But wait, what's that? Upon further inspection, I found this:

Photo: http://www.acclaimimages.com/

Hahaha nakakaloka!

Well, in fairness, this was not the first time my surname was spelled this way, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Wala lang, nakakatawa lang that both my name and surname were murdered in just one transaction!

What about you? Any name mishaps lately? :D

Q&As for Pluto's Sake!

I heard there will be this some kind of blogging conference to be held in Pluto. How exciting, right?! Hahaha. Luckily, I got invited by Rea of Reality Bites, and to, well, qualify, I have to answer this note. Easy peasy, that's my favorite online thing to do!

1. Are you named after someone?

No, but my father really wanted a "Maan" for a daughter so they made up an actual name that would end up with it as a nickname. Thus, Marie Angeli.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Oh I don't remember. I'm pretty sure, though, that it must have been during a quiet time with the Lord since I haven't had a reason to cry lately! Praise God!

Oh wait now I remember. It was last week when I read about why blood and water came out from Jesus' side when He was pierced. I was bawling!

3. Do you have kiddos?

Yes, one! My Yuri Gabriel who just turned 2.
Big boy aqua shoes! Too excited to go to the beach, which keeps getting postponed. Sorry!
What happens when you're 2 and stuck at home on a summer day. (Thanks, Ninang Camille, for the super cute cloth dipes!)

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend to yourself?

I'm pretty sure I would since I have an amazing personality.

Okay, kidding aside, maybe I can tolerate my mood-swings because I, well, like giving gifts. Haha!

5. Do you have a guilty pleasure?

My Little Camera Woes

I have a lot of backlog. I've been meaning to blog more about Yuri, some product reviews, and an event I've attended last week pa, but I can't. It's not that I have time. The reason why I can't blog is that I don't have a freaking camera!

To clarify that, I do have a camera. It's not a DSLR; it's just a Samsung point-and-shoot, but it works just fine. I depend on it a lot for my blog posts. However, for more than a week now, I haven't been able to use it because it's not with me! All my photos are in there, and I can't take any new photos!

Of course, I can't use my Instax.

Last week, my mom lent it to her friend. It finally came back to my arms just yesterday night. And this morning, my brother asked to borrow it. Ano ba? We used to have another digicam at home, but nasira sya. So now, everybody's using my digicam. Ayoko na! Chos!

Instead of bugging them to buy their own cameras, I decided na lang to buy another one for Christmas. For me, of course. Only me. Hands off. Chos. That's why I'm so excited for Christmas already. I want to buy this camera:

This is the Samsung NX1000. Here are the specs from the Lazada website:

  • 20.3 Megapixels 23.5mm x 15.7mm CMOS image sensor
  • 2x optical zoom
  • 3" TFT-LCD display
  • High-definition video mode
  • ISO 100-12,800
  • Scene modes
  • Up to 8 fps (frames per second)
  • Auto, custom and preset white balance controls
  • Flash modes
  • Hot shoe
  • Picture wizard
  • Contrast autofocus
  • Wi-Fi

Great, huh? Perfect for Instagram hahahaha. Seriously though, I think it's cool. Except for its price, which is a little under P30k. I think I could afford that, but I choose not to. Knowing my kuripot tendencies, I'll probably end up with another point-and-shoot camera like this:

The  GE Power Pro Series G100, priced at P6,299. Here are the specs:

  • 14.4 CMOS Megapixels
  • 15x Lens Optical Zoom
  • 6x Digital Zoom
  • 28mm Wide Angle
  • Full HD 1080p Video Recording
  • 3.0 inch (460,000 Pixels) TFT-LCD
  • Optical Image Stabilization
  • HDR+ (High Dynamic Range)
  • ISO Sensitivity: Auto, ISO 100/200/400/800/1600/3200

Or this:

The Nikon Coolpix L310, priced at P7,699. Not a point-and-shoot, not a DSLR either. It's a bridge camera. Here are the specs:

  • 14.1 Megapixel
  • 21x Optical Zoom
  • 3" LCD Screen
  • 3-speed Sport continuous mode (H, M, L)
  • Powered by commonly available R6/AA-size batteries
  • Easy auto mode with Scene auto selector
  • Smart portrait system
  • Pet portrait mode
  • Freebie/s: 4GB SD Card

Not bad, right? What do you suggest?
No DSLR please. My diaper bag is already heavy as it is. :-)

When Does Mommy Guilt End?

There's no denying about it; I became a mom young. I thought I would be pretty chill about it - cool mom and all. I really wasn't prepared for the times I'd experience mommy guilt! Ano ba?

Actually, when I resigned from my office job more than a year ago to work from home, I thought I would be exempted from the guilt all working moms must feel. Why would I when I was home all the time? In fact, I would always be excited for Sundays kasi it's almost the only time of the week when I go outside.

What I wasn't prepared for was the mommy guilt I would feel for the little snippets of time I sneak in for "me-time." I usually have my "me-time" when Yuri is already asleep in the evening. That's it! I admit that it gives me little time to do something. I just spend those hours in the night reading, texting, Instagramming, tweeting - you get the idea.

Today, though, I wanted a little bit more of me-time. So after feeding Yuri (I allot 1 hour for this to also give the yaya much needed lunch break), I sneaked into the room to eat my lunch alone. I had 15 minutes more or less to myself.

Not much, right? But I was feeling so guilty because I was not watching Yuri! I know it's unjustified; after all, 15 minutes is just 15 minutes, and I was just eating lunch and watching TV! I was not even shopping or anything like that. Not that I have anything against moms who shop. I'm totally with you!

The question I'd like to ask is when does mommy guilt ever end? It obviously does not end when I'm working from home. The mere fact that I ate my lunch inside the bedroom while Yuri was outside in the living room with the yaya made me feel guilty! When does it ever stop? Does it end when the child becomes an older toddler? Does it end when he goes to school? Does it end when he gains friends?

I won't know now; that's for sure.

What I know now is that even though I'd give anything to have an hour just lounging in sweat pants and watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S....

Face me, Joey!
Hi, Phoebe! (And I need foot spa, too, but when???)

...I'd still feel that mommy guilt.

I know you, moms, all feel mommy guilt. Can you tell me when it ends? Or does it?

Old School Blogging: Davao Mommy's ABCs

If you happen to stumble upon my old, 2008 blog, you will see that what I did mainly were memes. I don't know; I never get enough of them! Some of these memes are still on my Facebook account, but don't try to look for them, alright?

I first saw the Alphabet meme over at Ms. Martine's blog. I wanted to do the meme, too, but I wasn't tagged eh! Hehe she doesn't even know me!

But this morning, I was sooo thrilled to know that two bloggers, Van and Donna, tagged me! Yay!!!

Now, I ultimately have a reason to do the meme. Here it goes!

A. Attached or Single? Happily attached to my boyfriend and father of my baby, Papa J.

B. Best Friend(s)? The boyfriend, Papa J, my younger sister, C, college girlfriends George and Teena, my mom

C. Cake or pie? It's cake hands down. Give me cake anytime of the day!

D. Day of choice? Sunday

Because I work from Mondays through Saturdays, Sundays are my self-imposed worship, bonding, errands, and shopping days. It's like the catch-all basket of my week.

OOTD: Plain white shirt (TOPSHOP), good old black shorts (OLD NAVY), black leather bag (FOSSIL), unseen shoes (SM SOLEMATES)
E. Essential Item? Can I have three? They're my laptop, cell phone, and camera.

F. Favorite color? Pink!

G. Gummy bears or worms? I like gummy worms better because I like stretching them.

H. Home town? Davao City!

I. Favorite Indulgence? Shopping #sorrynotsorry

J. January or July? Sorry, I have to choose June. :-P

K. Kids? Only my cutie patootie, Y

Y at 8 months: Still my favorite photo of Y
L. Life isn’t complete without? Jesus Christ, J, Y, family, friends, and writing

M. Marriage date? SOON

N. Number of brothers/sisters? I have one older brother and one younger sister.

O. Oranges or Apples. I'm not very fond of either (I like bananas), but I would have to choose apples.

P. Phobias? Oh gosh, there are so many. I fear butterflies the most.

Q. Quotes? I like mantras and mottoes better. Here's my current mantra: A plan unwritten is just a dream.

R. Reasons to smile? There are so many! In fact, I was meaning to write a post about the things that make me smile. Well, Y tops the list, Papa J next, my family also, my work, my blog, opportunities, and the packages that came in last week in time for my birthday!

S. Season of choice? Winter

T. Tag 5 People. Do I really have to tag just five? Okay it's mommy bloggers Maqui, Cym, Marie, Dominique, Krisna (notable mention: George) and everyone who gets to read this post!

U. Unknown fact about me? I used to work as a news reporter for a local newspaper. I resigned after a few months because, well, let's just say field work isn't for me.

Also, I've been terribly bullied when I was in fifth grade. I don't think about it much, but when I read news and write-ups about bullying, it all comes back to me. However, the everyday bullying I experienced is something that made me stronger. #nojoke

V. Vegetable? Cabbage and lettuce

W. Worst habit? Biting nails!

X. Xray or Ultrasound? Ultrasound, of course! Having an ultrasound usually means good news, while x-rays remind me of Papa J's and my brother's accidents.

Y. Your favorite food? Chocolate. Yummy!

Z. Zodiac sign? I'm a Gemini Horse. Those who know horoscopes (or believe in them) would say that I have redundant signs, mainly because Gemini and Horse share the same traits.

Alright, now it's your turn to do the Alphabet meme! Just answer the prompt above (I'm tagging everyone here!) and link up over at Misselaineous Life.

You can also spread this meme over Twitter. Just use the #OSBlog hashtag. Go!

Birthday Post: 23 Things I'm Thankful For

This year, I wanted a very simple celebration. I just wanted good, homemade food for the table for the family - and no gifts. I don't want this birthday to get tainted with material things. Chos! But seriously, I declined the offer for gifts. Kay Y na lang please. Hehehe. J wanted to send something over, but even that I declined. This is because I know he just paid for the tuition fees of his siblings and is paying for a financial and business seminar he is attending right now.

I woke up around 5am this morning and received a couple of text messages. One was a heartfelt greeting from my J, and the other was another heartfelt greeting from Honey.

No, it's not my other man. Hahaha! Honey is Y's yaya.

I was actually touched because she actually remembered my birthday and remembered to greet me so early in the morning. If I'm not mistaken, she sent the message at 4am, which means she greeted me even before J. That made me think that even though I'm not planning to celebrate this year, there are really so many things that I should be thankful for.

Again, there are a lot, but to keep up with the spirit of turning 23, I want to share with you the 23 things I am thankful for:

1. I am thankful most of all to the Lord Jesus Christ for setting direction to my life. I honestly don't know where I would be without his guidance.

2. I am thankful for having Y in my life. The Lord set direction to my life, but I lost my path along the way. When Y came, it was as if I was suddenly knocked back into the right way.

3. I am thankful for having J, who remained loving, supportive, funny, and patient through the years. You truly are my match.

4. I am thankful for having my family behind my back. It is true that even when everyone deserts you, your family will always be there waiting for you. With open arms.

5. I am thankful for the food on our table, the shelter over our heads, and the protection every single day.

6. I am thankful for the ability to breastfeed. Not all moms can breastfeed, and I'm thankful for the gift of extended breastfeeding.

7. I am thankful for my job that earns me enough money. More than that, I'm thankful that my job allows me to stay at home and watch my baby grow.

8. I am thankful, of course, to Honey, Y's yayey. Without her, I might not be able to work at all.

9. I am thankful to the friends who stayed. (EDIT: Thanks for this birthday entry, George!)

10. I am thankful for DavaoMommy.com. I decided to blog September of last year to pass time and keep me sane, a must for a WAHM. It has become more than an outlet of feelings and turned into my virtual home.

11. I am thankful for the online network of bloggers that I have met through time. I might not have actual office mates or colleagues, but through you, I get to interact with different people.

12. I am thankful for the Internet. Without this, so many things in my list would not have been possible. Haha!

13. I am thankful for Smart Communications. You make our long-distance relationship possible. You have shortcomings, but it's okay, we're forgiving. Hehehe.

14. I am thankful for free resources of financial education and awareness, breastfeeding, parenting, and home and living.

15. I am thankful for Facebook, for the network of people, Twitter for the news updates, and Instagram for the inspiring photos.

16. I am thankful for the house we are paying for now. It is just a lot now, but in two years, it will become our home.

17. I am thankful for chocolates, cakes, ice cream, and all sweet desserts.

18. I am thankful for all online shops that make shopping convenient and super easy.

19. I am thankful for all personal finance blogs and articles that keep my spending at bay.

20. I am thankful for the following apps: Pocket, MoBill, and BPI Mobile. Seriously. You make my work so much easier.

21. I am thankful for blogging and internet opportunities and contests that add spice to my online life.

22. I am thankful for even more opportunities of all aspects, of all facets, that will unfold in the coming days, months, years.

23. Finally, I am thankful to you, dear reader. You make my writing worthwhile.

Pre-birthday Post: 23 Random Things About Me

I don't usually do these kinds of post, but since birthday ko na tomorrow (ehem), I'm temporarily taking the right to be self-obsessed.

Hindi pwede? But please let me? Ngayon lang? Hahaha!

Anyway, let's cut to the chase and act interested, shall we? Because I will be 23 years young tomorrow, here are 23 random things about me:

1. I bite my nails all the time. Some people do it when they are nervous, but I do it for no reason.

2. I lost around 45 pounds in just less than a year. I'd love to give you diet and exercise tips, but really, all I did was breastfeed.

Let us all now take a moment of silent to look at this tacky, poorly edited collage to show you I'm telling the truth:

Wasn't the 9-months pregnant me sooo cute? :P

3. I had my baby when I was 21 - a couple of months before I turned 22.

4. I started following mommy blogs even before I got pregnant. Law of attraction? LOL. My favorite bloggers are Mommy Fleur and Topaz Mommy; I read the entire blogs and missed no entry seriously.

5. I started blogging when I was a college sophomore. That was around 2007. But I only began blogging seriously September of last year.

6. I don't understand haters. Do they have all the time in the world?

7. I used to be a chill person. Not even a next-day deadline can freak me out. Now, I'm more nerbyosa than a coffee drinker. I jump each time Y goes near something that resembles a potential injury factory.

8. I don't eat fish.

9. I like wearing girly dresses and frills. I also like pink.

10. I think I have no future with photography, but I am a pathological picture-taker.

11. I have a degree in Communication Arts with a major in Media Arts from UP Mindanao.

12. I have no plans of going back to school.

13. I graduated last 2010, but I have never gotten my diploma yet. Must make time for that!

14. I don't understand people who post selfies and then place song quotes in the caption.

15. I cannot cook to save my life. Don't worry, I will practice.

16. I cannot swim nor ride a bike. I don't know much of the street games either. #loser

17. I cannot do any sport. I'm relying on J to teach Y sports in the future.

18. I love Kris Aquino and Toni Gonzaga despite the haters. That's what you call unconditional love.

19. I don't understand why some people criticize Davao Tagalog. Lemme get this straight: Davao is in Mindanao, which means its people are not native Visayan nor Tagalog. If Davaoenos come up with their own version of Tagalog (Tagalog pidgin or Davao conyo), then there's nothing wrong with that.

20. I don't play Candy Crush or any other game.

21. I am 7 years younger than my brother and 11 years older than my sister. I am 3 years younger than J, my boyfriend.

22. I don't understand moms who post their babies' symptoms in online groups, such as the MomCenter group in Facebook. I especially don't understand those who have time to post threatening symptoms. There was a time when a mom "asked" other moms what it means when her baby has blood on her stools. Hello?! At nakapag-FB ka pa ha? Sugod ka na kaya kay doc!

23. I used to think I was unlucky when it comes to raffle, but apparently, this is not true because I won two (actually three) awesome items last month. :-)

So, uhm, wala kayong natutunan no? Bwahahaha! Sorry! I'll make it up to you in the next posts.

On the other hand, I'd love it if you tell me something totally random about yourselves! Please do so in the comments! :-)

On OOTDs and Feeling Good About Yourself

If you have been following my blog, you would know how I love taking OOTD photos. I don't have fabulous clothes. I don't own high-end brands. I just love taking photos of myself because they boost my self-esteem.

Recently, I re-discovered Ms. Tina Tagle's new blog. It's funny because she really set aside another page of her blog just for her OOTDs to keep the "haters" away. As written in her disclaimer, "So people who come to my blog now have a choice. You can view the page or not. If you view it, it’s your choice. Enter at your own risk." Funny!

But I don't understand why some people would hate other people's OOTDs. What's wrong with taking photos of your clothes? What's wrong with feeling beautiful or, at least, presentable when dressed up? I don't understand.

Personally, I like it when people post photos of themselves. They do not even have to be that fashionable. I just like it. I like how looking good in these photos boosts their self-confidence. I like it when they don't care whether they are not of the popular body type. I love every OOTD post, seriously. For me, taking OOTDs is a personal level of self-empowerment. I don't see it as bragging but, yes, self-empowerment.

And I don't understand why some people would go lengths to "hate" on OOTDs and, to an extent, make a certain person feel bad about herself (or himself).

I am affected because it's been so long since I've felt good about myself. It's hard to feel good about yourself when you're bordering on 75 kilos or 165 pounds - which I was when I was pregnant. But now, I realized that it's not about the weight; it's about how other people make you feel about it. If you're 200 pounds and feel like a goddess, then no one's stopping you from feeling good about yourself!

I take OOTDs even though I am not conventionally beautiful. I am only 5'1" (I used to think I was 5'2", but my OB harshly told me na hindi hahaha! I love my OB!), and I weigh 52 kilos. I am not even mestiza or chinita. I'm just my regular morena self. I have the darkest knees that I know of. And even though I'm happy with my weight, I have thick bilbils (haha!) - blame it on motherhood.

I don't even know how to pose! Someone teach me how to pose please.

And sorry, I only have an LG phone (and my Samsung point-and-shoot camera) plus an unclean mirror. Must remind Honey about this ASAP.

But I'm still taking my OOTDs no matter what convention tells me because they do wonders for my self-esteem. I feel good about them, my boyfriend likes them, and no "hater" is going to tell me otherwise.

PS: Don't be a green-eyed monster. Envy and jealousy is such an ugly thing. Be inspired instead!

Duh, if I were only good at using makeup, I think I'd even post FOTDs (face of the day). If I were good at cooking, I'd post food of the day. If I were good at interior design, I would barrage you with photos of my home. Whatever!

    Random Things I'm Loving

Hi! It's Sunday and I'm working. Sad, right? I know! As much as I would like to rest today and spend the day worshipping and cuddling with Y, I cannot because I have to make up for missed work. :-(

Anyway, to lighten up my mood and to brighten my day, I decided to do make a list of the random things I'm in love with right now.

    1. Thudguard Helmet

Last Wednesday, May 15, Y was finally able to stand and make a few steps on his own! That's after 13 months of trying, so, yipee! Oops, I forgot to make a separate blog post for this milestone. We were happy, of course, but Y also had his first accident. He tried to run and fell down the floor, resulting to a bump on his head. I really wanted to buy this:

That's a Thudguard helmet. Brilliant, right? Only it costs P2,500. We cannot afford that for now. So this had a stamp of disapproval from the baby daddy.

    2. Slide and playset

Not so long ago, I discovered the Familia Kiki blog and immediately fell in love with Maqui's writings. I also immediately fell in love with his son, Aki's slide and playset:

After I saw Maqui's post about it, I immediately wanted to visit the local American surplus shop ASAP! The slide set can fit in my parents' house. Unfortunately, while this got J's seal of approval, I'm not so sure about the house we're paying for now. So I guess bike na lang. But still!

    3. Random cute things like
    a. Magnet board

I was reading Dainty Mom's blog (Ah! I must stop reading blogs!) when I discovered this:

    b. Cork board

    And this, too:

Both boards would make pretty and functional additions to a home office, don't you think? Both are from Sitting Pretty Crafts Studio, by the way.

    c. Wooden hangers

Wooden hangers I have wanted ever since. I saw some in Gaisano Mall last Sunday, but they were too expensive at P165 per piece. I know, right? However, I saw some cheaper hangers online:

Aren't uniform wooden hangers a lot better than plastic ones? The seller who owns the photo above sells hangers for only P50/piece and P500/dozen.

    d. Ball Mason jars

I discovered Ball Mason jars from Paper Chic. Unfortunately, they are out of stock now. When will you restock? Pretty please?

    4. Rubber shoes for Y

Now that Y has finally made an attempt at walking, I finally have a legitimate reason to buy him "big boy shoes." Who doesn't want to give her little man his very first Nikes? I'm setting my eye on this one from a seller in Facebook:

The pair above would be perfect because Y was born in the Year of the Dragon. It makes so much sense, doesn't it? Hahaha. However, I also like this handsome Oshkosh pair from Charles Goodies:

    5. Wooden furniture

When I'm not busy doing something, I find myself daydreaming about designing and decorating our future home. I would like to spruce it up with wooden furniture like these ones:

Wooden furniture cost much higher than ordinary furniture, but I guess I'm willing to save for it. Of course, knowing me and my love for all things el cheapo, I would probably just ask J's uncle, who owns a furniture shop, to make our wooden furniture. Bring it on!

How about you? What random things are you loving today?
    Have a special Sunday!

    Is this an invitation?

    *bats eyelashes*

(George, I always remember you when I use that expression above. Hahaha!)

Anyway, I'm pretty happy today. That's a great change from the bad vibes I encountered this week, diba? So happy that I posted an impromptu selfie on Instagram:

    Follow me on Instagram: @maanlaxa
Remind me to clean my mirror already. Haha! Now, it's still good to know that there are a lot of honest sellers on the world wide web. The rompers are from @300belowallyours, by the way. Aren't they cute? I also got another front-zip romper and an Old Navy shirt from her. Plus headbands for my sister's growing collection. I'm glad I made her happy despite the Instagram fiasco!

But I'm getting beside the point. This is what made me happy today:

Ms. Ria Jose, if you're not from Davao, is one of the city's most influential bloggers. I have been reading and following her blogs since college, and she's one of my blogging idols. I think she's also one of the founders of the blogger group, Davao Bloggers.

Imagine my shock and flattery when she added me on Facebook weeks ago. Now, imagine me getting even more flattered when she followed me on Instagram. Anong nangyayari, Lord? Hahaha!

I was actually confused when Ms. Ria said I should be "more active in Davao Bloggers." Wait, what? Hindi naman ako member ah! :D

    Here's a little backstory:

When I started blogging seriously last September, I wanted to be part of a blogger group to pressure myself into blogging regularly. You know the feeling that you are somewhat accountable? Ganun. Then, I discovered BC Bloggers. I am blessed enough to be part of BC Bloggers, which has fueled my blogging mojo. (Char, thank you speech?)

However, the BC Bloggers live far from where I am. I longed to be part of a group where I can really meet the other members in real life and not just online. This is where Davao Bloggers comes in. I've known this group long before I started blogging, so I am pretty much aware of who the members are. When I started blogging, of course, I wished to be part of the group.

Actually, it is easy to be a member. But I know I would either be a blogger the group would be proud to have or not at all. I don't want to be someone who just made herself a member for nothing. Because my blog is still small and gets read by only a few, I keep postponing my application to the group.

That was before Ms. Ria "implied" the invitation. Is this really an invitation? What do you think? Am I finally good enough (based on my own standards) to be a Davao Blogger?

***I know there's so much unnecessary drama in this post, but if you know me, you would know that I always strive to be the best in everything I do.

    OC Davao Mommy

I usually don't call myself OC. The honor goes to my dad, who is clinically obsessive-compulsive. I'm not kidding. He's a certified germaphobe and his favorite fantasy is to ultimately defeat bacteria. Oh well. So what's the point of this post? Nothing, just that I am an obsessive planner and listmaker, and I think the habit's becoming "worse."

I've been like this for the longest time, but I think being a mom and working from home intensified it. But trust me, it can easily become an irritating habit. Even J gets irked by it sometimes.

The classic example is my BDJ planner, which I can't live without. But there is more than meets the eye. Within this planner are lists, doodles, and more lists. Here is a couple of them:

I also created a salary logsheet for my only employee, Y's yaya:
Of course, I also follow a schedule to guide us throughout the day. I'm glad our yaya follows suit. Without it, or when the schedule doesn't get followed, I feel that my life for that day is thrown off-balance. This schedule is very detailed and includes all of our major chores. Here's our schedule, if you want to see it:

It is detailed. Don't say I didn't warn you!
And in my phone, a couple of my most favorite apps allow me to create lists. One is EasyNote for random note-taking and list-making, while the other is MoBill, where I can list my bills and payables.

In my future home, I plan to have lots of lists. Would you laugh at me if I say that one of my fantasies would be to frame some of those lists? I can't do that here in my parents' house because my clinically OC dad complains of the dust my lists gather. Really, pa? Really?!

When making lists, I get the satisfaction of knowing that things somehow gets into order. I also get satisfied by the thought that my thoughts are written on paper so I won't forget them. Aside from just making list, I also get immense satisfaction by crossing out the things I've already done. Aaaahhhh.

I also have lists for my dreams, things I want to do, things I want to be in ten years, the websites I plan to visit the next day, the books I intend to read, grocery lists, needs-list, wants-list... You get the idea.

How about you? Any other self-confessed OC or list-addicts out there?
