K Steak Unlimited Davao

Unlimited steak ba hanap nyo? Carnivore ka bang tulad ko? Can't you get enough of meat?

Then tara na sa K-Steak Unlimited!

Okay, okay, so I just made that totally corny advertorial up. Hehehe. Anyway, last Sunday, I attended my friend, George's baby's baptism. He's my first inaanak ever! After the ceremony in Saint Paul's Parish, we went across the street to eat at K-Steak Unlimited.

I've heard of this new "eat-all-you-can steakhouse" in the city over a year ago. However, it was located too far from where I live, so I never had the chance to eat there. A lot of my ex-officemates also rave about the steaks there, that's why I was so excited to finally try its offerings.

Here are some photos:

I was not able to take a photo of the restaurant from the outside, so I just took a photo of the doorway.

Ah, this is the restaurant's main attraction: the steak station. Shy si Kuya. :D

Verdict

Location:

The first branch of K Steak Unlimited opened in Matina, Davao City, which is, like I mentioned previously, in the Southern part of the city. Because I live in the North suburbs (chos!), I rarely venture there. This is my first time to eat here, obviously. However, for South-dwellers, I think the location is perfect because it is right across a parish.

And you know what most Filipinos do after going to church, right?

Food:

Food should be the highlight of going to a new restaurant for the first time, so I had pretty high expectations. This was a result of hearing about the place so many times. However, I found that I didn't enjoy the food that much.

My plate

First, the pork steak was tough. And the cuts, I don't know why, were cold. It was reminiscent of the pork chop I used to buy at the "canteen" from UP - minus toyomansi.

Second, while the beef steak won in the texture department, I just found it too salty. Next!

The fish - cream dory - was the winner in all departments. The texture was just right, and the taste was not nakakaumay. I also like that the cuts were a bit burnt on the sides. Yum!

Finally, I tried the other dishes and I found them all - bland. Even the spaghetti was full of red sauce and almost did not have a thread of meat in it (no pics!). I wanted to eat dessert, but I saw Claire coming back with a plate of mini cupcakes that looked suspiciously like Mini Keyk.

Disclaimer: I ate my steaks without sauce to try its real flavor.

And another plate of steak. This is not mine, though. :P

Ambience:

However, the place's ambience made up for my disappointment in its food. I was totally engrossed in looking at the details of the buffet spread, the windows, the framed graphics, even the counter. I just stopped myself from taking photos because I might bump into the others. :P

The dim lighting also makes one feel relaxed, not to mention look pretty in photos. Hahaha! One could say that the owners took this aspect seriously.

This is my favorite part of the restaurant: the dishes station. I just love the lighting and the homey feel!

Overall, it was still a pleasant experience because I went there for my friend and my inaanak.

Cutie patootie Andrei! We lalabsh you!
Monster mommy! (Peace!)

I also enjoyed talking to my ex-officemates. The restaurant itself was also too pretty for words, which made me forget my disappointment in the food. I just wonder whether the food tastes like this all the time or not. Perhaps the chef just had a bad day?

No one knows.

Would I try eating again in K Steak? Apparently, they have another branch near our location, so let's try it again! Hopefully, the food situation last Sunday would just be an isolated case.
