I was especially anxious to go to SM Lanang yesterday because I know there would be a Davao Gourmet Collective. I really, really, really wanted to buy Davao-made chocolates, whichever company would be exhibiting there.
Here's my little boy with his "baha" pants. I think the outfit is very summer-y; the only thing missing is a pair of open sandals! That's my sister sporting the peace sign.
Me and my widow's peak
Upon arriving at SM Lanang, I made a beeline to the atrium and looked for the Davao Gourmet Collective. Lo and behold, there was none. I thought it was held in another location in the mall so I asked the ladies over at the information booth.
Me: Miss, may Davao Gourmet Collective today?
Miss: Ha?
Me: Davao Gourmet Collective? Saan?
Miss (turns to the other miss): Collective daw?
Other miss shrugs
Miss: Wala man ma'am
Imagine my despair (yes, despair talaga!) when I heard that. All week long, I've been waiting for Sunday to arrive just so I can buy chocolates. Tapos wala daw? I'm sure there was a collective because I follow SM on Instagram. How could this be?! Chos!
Anyway, we were really hungry because we didn't have lunch yet. It was already 3:30 in the afternoon. Due to hunger, we decided to just go to Giligan's to eat comfort food. No time to pick new restaurants! I also knew I wanted to eat sisig because I was stressed about the DGC. Hehehe.
Garlic Chicken
Pork Sisig
Gambas
Everything we ordered was yummy, and that was not just because we were very hungry. The gambas was especially delicious, while the sisig was crunchy and very chicharon-like. Sinfully delicious. Even the little boy was enjoying himself:
In the atrium again, we took a look at some displays showcasing the old Davao City:
Davao City awards
Sorry for the blurry photo of this old typewriter. I want! (I wonder where our old typewriter is?)
We did try to shop around for sales. Unfortunately, nothing was that interesting. Here are my agenda (none of which was successful):
- Look for sandals for Yuri - I found none that fits what I want. All of the boys' sandals were either too rubber-y or velcro-y. I was looking for something light and strappy, much like girls' sandals. Much like Saltwater Sandals. Should I just invest on one instead?
Photo: http://whoorl.com/ - Buy new GIGA mosquito repellent - Wala nang GIGA booth sa SM Lanang! In its place were bikes and toy cars from Toy Kingdom. Nasaan ka, GIGA? Huhuhu.
- Look for gifts for Yuri's second birthday (lapit na!), unfortunately, I found nothing interesting.
- Buy local chocolates from the Davao Gourmet Collective - You know what happened!
In short, wala akong napala. So bumawi ako sa last activity. The last activity was my favorite: grocery shopping! The contents of my grocery cart were fruits, vegetables, and foods with probiotic (namely yogurt and Yakult since wala namang kefir dito). No junkfood and no food with ingredients I couldn't pronounce! I also brought home this:
I decided to just buy one of the potted romaine lettuce plants since I was eating lettuce regularly anyway. Yes, I'll blog about my journey to clean eating soon! The only problem is that I know scant about growing plants. As in. Paano kaya to?
Dear pretty lettuce plant in a plastic cup, please don't die on me! I wanna eat you!
And that's how my Sunday went. What about you? :-)

Congratulations, Ms. Cym! I'll be sending you an email soon!
PPS: I forgot to tell you that later that night, just as when we got home, I found out that the Davao Gourmet Collective was held in the Fountain Court of SM Lanang. Hay naku, information booth! Ano ba! Good thing my friend who works in SM assured me it's still gonna be there this weekend. Yay!
