Last Week in Photos

Hi, everyone! Happy Monday! How's your weekend? Mine has been pretty uneventful - except for the fact that my mom's credit card got hacked. But let's reserve that for another post.

My camera has finally worked well again; turns out batteries lang pala ang kailangan palitan. Whew! Still, I could use another camera hahaha. That's a side note. This post is really about the random photos I've seen in my camera, photos that were taken last week.

First, I realized that Yuri's toy box is already too small for his toys. His toys get larger in number as he grows up, and his box (the one we got when he was still a newborn baby) just can't fit them anymore. Here's a cute GIF that I made:

I also unearthed my sister's old toy car. I did not buy one for Yuri on purpose because I know Chelsea's car was still alive. After digging through the boxes upstairs, I did find it! Albeit covered in dust. Hehe. Nothing a good scrubbing won't remove!

Side story:

I told Honey, Yuri's yaya, to clean the car for me. First, I made her hose it down outside the house. Then, I noticed she came back inside and got the tissue. Ha? Para saan? She'll scrub na daw the dirt that hardened on the toy. Ha?! Tissue?! Pang-scrub?! Okay ka lang?

To cut the long story short, I took over the job of scrubbing the car. I got an old toothbrush and a plastic container filled with soapy water. Ganyan, Honey. Ganyan magscrub ng dumi! Good luck sa tissue mo!

May pahabol pa. After I finally finished scrubbing the toy car (and gave my arms a workout), she told me:

Ate, ilabas ko na ulit yung hose para mabanlawan mo na yan?

Ano ka, sinuswerte? Ikaw na magbanlaw no! Pak!

Anyway, here's the toy car in all its pink and purple glory:
Malinis na sya, thanks to me. Hahaha

I also remembered the gummy candies that came with our free vitamins from Doc. Actually, Doc wasn't supposed to give this, but Yuri already grabbed it from her hands. Oh well. Just one or two lang ha!

They supposedly contain Ascorbic Acid, which I doubt, but they came in cute fruit shapes, so sige na nga. Here they are:

I could not stop the little hand from grabbing at the colorful candies:
Just a disclaimer: I don't feed Yuri candies. This is the only exception, and I have only given him around three or four teeny-tiny bites. Sue me.

I also discovered the best way for Yuri to eat his oatmeal and cereals: in cake form!
I like the way this cake turned out. It had a good balance of moist chewy and spongy. Yay! The bad thing is that I don't have the recipe: I just mixed stuff and prayed for the best. Boo!

Finally, Yuri also discovered the joy of playing baby games on the cellphone:

I downloaded some baby games for Yuri to try out. I've only given him the cellphone when he turned 18 months, by the way. And it looks like it's an effective way to teach! Look at him almost placing the cat in its outline perfectly:

That's how my week looked like last week (with the exception of mundane tasks and work, of course). I hope we all have a good week this week! :-)

Our Saturday Morning

Who wouldn't want to wake up early for this little critter?
And yes, this is a selfie. He just went in front of the camera and smiled!

My Saturday morning began early again! It's becoming a habit now. A couple of hours before I work, Yuri and I would take a walk around the village and then go home for breakfast. I like it because I need the exercise! I'm getting fat again! OMG!

We usually wake up at around 6-6:30 in the mornings. However, this morning, Yuri woke up a little late at 7:45. I looked outside the window and saw that the sun was already up. Ugh, not good. But Yuri insisted to go outside, so I thought maybe we can just walk around in our "yard."

Yuri wouldn't give up, though, and pulled me outside the gate.

Mama, taw (car)!

That's how Yuri looks when he sees something interesting. In this case, though, I was asking him how old he is. Guess what his answer was, but let's save the story for another post. :-)

Frequent pit stops along the way

Huhu fat!!!

We literally got up from bed, slapped on some shoes (slippers for me) and went outside. Next time, I will make myself more presentable hahaha.

After forcing a crying Yuri to go home (it was so mainit already), we ate breakfast and I gave Yuri a bath. Yuri didn't waste time. After getting dressed, play na naman!

Yuri and his gigantic toy box

Walking, running, and eating

He also developed a penchant for bracelets. He wore one of our door-stoppers in his left hand and the rattle bracelet he had as a baby in his right hand. :D

I guess that's how my Saturday morning went. My sister was the one who took the photos inside the house as I was already working. Yes, you can still play with your little one even though you have to work the weekend off. Happy weekend still!

Healthy Homemade Ice Cream, Anyone?

Hello, there! It's me, Ms. Trying Hard Domestic Diva speaking! Hehehe. Actually, I couldn't cook to save my life, but I do try some recipes from time to time for Yuri - my picky eater.

You know how we all want to eat ice cream but couldn't? Worse, you know the feeling of wanting to give your children ice cream but also couldn't? It's just so sinful. Now, what if I told you you can make ice cream at home without all those unnecessary fats and sugar?

Last week, I saw a post from Maria Kang's blog (which I discovered via Topaz Horizon) about healthy homemade ice cream. I thought it looked simple - and delish - enough that I tried making it last Monday.

And it was easy! It only took me 15 minutes to do it. First, here are the ingredients :

Cream. The original recipe called for milk, but we had only a little milk left and we had some cream so I used it instead. I only used a small amount - about 2 tablepoons.

Frozen bananas. I swear I took a photo of my frozen bananas, but my camera died after I took it. The file must have gotten corrupted. Anyway, I chopped up about 5 bananas and left them in the freezer overnight.

Sorry for the following photos. I already used my phone's camera after my camera conked out.

Peanut butter. Not the best kind, but this was the only one I got in a short notice. I had to microwave it because it was so hard. I used around 2 scoops of peanut butter.

Blender. I think any food processor would do. I had a bad experience with blenders. The last time I used one, I had to buy a new one afterward. I'm not even kidding! Haha!

Just place all the ingredients inside the blender and blend!

Blend until smooth. I didn't want a chunky ice cream.

This was the finished product. Mmmm! I popped it into the freezer to make it ready for our afternoon snack.

This was how it looked like after being frozen. It had the consistency of real ice cream! Cool!

Now, for the taste test:

I know the photos don't look any good, but you have to take my word for it: it tasted delicious! And I felt a little less guilty to indulge myself in a cup of ice cream. Now, we can have our ice cream and eat it, too! :-)

PS: I wrote this post in bed with a malikot Yuri by my side, so please forgive me for the grammatical errors if any. I didn't work this morning because yaya was at school, celebrating Teachers' Day. I'm just gonna think I'm taking the day off, too, as a teacher. Whew!

Jollibee's 35th Birthday!

Photo from Stratworks PR

Jollibee turned 35 already! We were blessed to take part in the celebration last Saturday. Before anything else, a little back story muna.

Ms. Kezia of Stratworks first texted last Friday yata at 1am. I was already groggy then so I didn't reply for fear of texting like a drunk person. Hahaha. The next day, Ms. Kezia texted again. I really, really wanted to go, but the event was to be held in Jollibee MTS, which was more than an hour away from home. The last event was in Jollibee Buhangin, which was just 15 minutes away.) Also, Yuri was going to have his vaccine shot that day.

The ever courteous Ms. Kezia actually volunteered to have us picked up from home. Oh noes! As tempting as the offer was, I had to decline kasi nakakahiya naman. Oo may hiya ako sa katawan. But she insisted and told me that I could be picked up in another place instead. I said, okay sa Abreeza na lang! Okay, konti lang pala hiya ko sa katawan. I thought there would be a lot of us picked up. Kami lang pala! Nakakahiya! Hahaha!

Note to self: Buy your own car!!!

Another back story: My mom asked, "Bakit ka ba invited sa mga events? Sino ka ba?" Hahaha!

Anyway, let's proceed to the actual birthday celebration of Jollibee. It's quite different because we are used to having our birthday celebrations in Jollibee, right? This time, it is Jollibee's birthday we are celebrating. It's pretty special! Let the photos do the talking:

Late and ready to go: No Apologies shirt, Old Navy shorts, Crocs shoes

My temporary diaper bag is my sister's Victoria's Secret bag.

We arrived at the venue a little late, and by the time we got there, the Jollibee staff was already teaching the kids (most of them from the Jollibee Kids Club) a dance for Jollibee. Of course, my little Yuri wasn't able to follow the steps accurately, but he tried anyway! :-)

Yuri and I at the back :-)

My sister was chosen to hold one of the letters for Jollibee's greeting. The dalagita was the biggest kid in line haha. (Photo taken by Yaya)

Our yaya couldn't get a decent photo of us, so I took the matter into my own hands! Selfie!

One happy kid! I love this little guy!

My sister's letter: Y stands for Yuri!

The celebration in Manila was being livestreamed.

Eventually, there was a lull, which the children perceived to be the break time. I think we were waiting for the actual celebration to happen in Manila. Meanwhile, Yuri took the chance to run back and forth in front of the party area.

Don't ask who Yuri's shadow is. Hahaha. Then, we asked for a photo-op.

My hair looks great under the party hat. I think I should wear hats forever.

After that, Yuri began to get fussy. It was already past his naptime, and he wasn't able to sleep when we were home. The party area began to get too noisy for him, so I took him outside. Good thing the area outside the party area had comfy seats.

He contented himself watching the cars down the road.

Ateneo de Davao is in front of Jollibee. That's the building half-seen on your left.

Eventually, we were called back in because it was almost time for dinner. Yay! We were told to take some seats in the area reserved for the media people, but I had to request for our food taken outside because there wasn't enough space for a high chair.

After transferring outside, Yuri "read" one of his new board books while I let his food cool.

Hello, October!

Photo: onelovecottage.blogspot.com
Hello!!! I just submitted my final production report for the month of September, so this afternoon, it's officially October for me. Weird, no? I'm following the EST time zone kasi in my work (though I don't work the night shift). Wala lang, minsan feel ko rin na Fall semester ngayon. Hehe feeling.

Anyway, I'm welcoming October with open arms! August has not been a good month and September was fair with its share of challenges. Now, I'm confident October will be a heck lot of better. I know October will be good to me. I'm claiming it in Jesus' name!

Of course, I do have to save more money this month. My original plan was to buy myself a camera (and maybe a bag) this Christmas when our pedia dropped the bomb: Yuri still has to have two vaccine shots. One in November and another in December. How much? Let's just say with that amount, I can already buy myself a Tory Burch Ella bag. Huhuhu. I immediately reported this to Job, who did not feel the same pain as I did. Well, he wasn't the one counting on a new bag this Christmas. Oh well papel.

Sana may budget pa rin for a camera. I really need a new one because my Samsung keeps conking out on me. On the other hand, I am thankful that we don't have to scramble for funds to afford Yuri's health care. Thank you, Lord.

It's okay. Yuri's health wins over my material lusts anytime. That's what motherhood is about. Actually, I have to think twice if I plan to buy something for myself and not for Yuri. But that's beside the point. I'm sure October will still have something good to offer. For now, I know better. I should plan ahead for my luho and make sure I speak to Doc first before I make the splurge. Teehee.
