Our New Morning Struggle

I hinted about this problem in one of my past posts this week, but let me tell you more about it today. Well, it's feeling especially fresh this morning because it's already 9:45 in the morning and I just sat at my desk to begin working. I should've begun working almost 2 hours ago.

This is a big deal for me because I am soooo OC with schedule. Home schedule that is.

So what is this daily morning struggle?

Well, in the beginning, like most moms of newborn babies, I used to struggle with sleep - or the lack thereof. During Yuri's first two months, I considered myself lucky if I get 2 or 3 straight hours of sleep. 4 hours of sleep felt like heaven. Fortunately, despite Yuri's being colicky, he began sleeping straight through the night at 4 months.

Now, the tables have been turned. As someone who is very OC about our routine, I needed structure and a proper wake-up time. It used to be 6 am. Then it became 7. Nowadays, I'm not so sure. Aside from Yuri's tendency to oversleep, it's becoming harder to coax him out of bed.

Yes, like a schooler, Yuri's already beginning to have very minor tantrums whenever I tell him, "Bangon na, baba na tayo." And it's not because he's overtired ha, because our bedtime ranges from 8-8:30 pm.

So when he wakes up at 7:30, it takes 15 more minutes of my coaxing and Yuri's delaying tactics. Here are my pieces of evidence:

Me: Yuri, let's go na.
Yuri: Mama, lamiiiig!
Me: Yuri, baba na tayo!
Yuri: Read magazines mama! (Of course, he did not say that.)
Me: Yuri, bangon na!
Yuri: Mama tuyog!
No words = the beginning of a tantrum!
Adorable tantrum-ing baby!
Me: Sige na Yuri, baba na tayo.
Yuri: Noooo. Ayaw.
Me: Please Yuri?
Yuri: *deep sigh*

See how harsh sunlight is already pouring through the window? :-P

To be honest, I kind of enjoy watching Yuri with his very-minor tantrums whenever I ask him to "bangon na." That's why I repeat the request over and over again. Well, Yuri is still a young toddler who still looks adorable and hardly like a monster, but I might eat my words in the near future. Wag sana! Hahaha!

So don't take this post seriously. Yes, I have to say that even if it might be obvious. I actually like the fact that Yuri oversleeps and likes staying in bed (with me) in the mornings. Also, it gives us more time to read books and cuddle. And yes, I know sleep is crucial to his health and growth.

The question is how am I ever going to work at 8am again? Hahaha!

Mommies, do you have the same problem with your toddlers? For those who have yet to experience this, mine is 20-months old - for your reference!

Our Saturday Morning

Who wouldn't want to wake up early for this little critter?
And yes, this is a selfie. He just went in front of the camera and smiled!

My Saturday morning began early again! It's becoming a habit now. A couple of hours before I work, Yuri and I would take a walk around the village and then go home for breakfast. I like it because I need the exercise! I'm getting fat again! OMG!

We usually wake up at around 6-6:30 in the mornings. However, this morning, Yuri woke up a little late at 7:45. I looked outside the window and saw that the sun was already up. Ugh, not good. But Yuri insisted to go outside, so I thought maybe we can just walk around in our "yard."

Yuri wouldn't give up, though, and pulled me outside the gate.

Mama, taw (car)!

That's how Yuri looks when he sees something interesting. In this case, though, I was asking him how old he is. Guess what his answer was, but let's save the story for another post. :-)

Frequent pit stops along the way

Huhu fat!!!

We literally got up from bed, slapped on some shoes (slippers for me) and went outside. Next time, I will make myself more presentable hahaha.

After forcing a crying Yuri to go home (it was so mainit already), we ate breakfast and I gave Yuri a bath. Yuri didn't waste time. After getting dressed, play na naman!

Yuri and his gigantic toy box

Walking, running, and eating

He also developed a penchant for bracelets. He wore one of our door-stoppers in his left hand and the rattle bracelet he had as a baby in his right hand. :D

I guess that's how my Saturday morning went. My sister was the one who took the photos inside the house as I was already working. Yes, you can still play with your little one even though you have to work the weekend off. Happy weekend still!

In Love With Mornings

It's a quarter before 12nn right now, but I'm sneaking in a little blog post while my Y is still having his morning nap. We're supposed to have lunch already, but Y is still asleep. Actually, both Y and his yaya, Honey, are still sleeping hehe.

Y always takes a nap around 9-9:30 in the morning and wakes up at around 11-11:30. However, I think the little boy had sugar rush earlier (just kidding, of course - he was just hyperactive :P) and got to sleep at already 10:30. Much to Honey's chagrin haha!

While waiting for them to wake up, I looked at the photos in my phone to see what's worth blogging. What I noticed is that I have a lot of morning photos! This is something motherhood-brought because two years ago, I wouldn't be what you would call a morning person. From high school to college, I was a night owl. I slept at 2 in the morning and woke up at around lunch time.

Now that I'm a mom, I wake up at around 5-6 to a sleeping Y. I find myself loving mornings now. In fact, mornings are now my favorite part of the day! These photos will explain why:

Zzzzz...
Zzzzz...
View from the top (chos): Peace and tranquility

There are also lots of birds where we are, so you wake up to the sound of twitter, literally.
And if the weather is right, we take a little walk in our very little bonsai "garden."
But if I'm lucky, I wake up to this kind of weather:

Steady, gloomy rain is love!

Not the kind with thunder, lightning, floods, and brownouts please!
