Help! Home Remedies for Cold Please?

Today is Friday and I'm supposed to have written a post enticing you to make wiser personal finance decisions. In my defense, I already have a draft written weeks ago, just awaiting completion.

However, I was feeling so tired last night that I just couldn't bring myself to completing it.

I wasn't even able to exercise properly, save for around 15 minutes of running. After that, my body couldn't take anymore stress.

Buntis? Charot.

You see, I've been battling what I thought was a common cold for two weeks now. It never progressed because I fought it with fruit smoothies and liters of water. I was able to get through the past two weeks smoothly (and healthily, too).

However, this week, my cold returned and was worse. I have very itchy sinuses and itchy and watery eyes and a sore throat. I'm thinking maybe this is allergic rhinitis. I've never had this before and I'm actually placing my suspicion on the mice that suddenly invaded our home.

So, yes, I've been feeling under the weather. Water and fruit smoothies didn't seem to be enough, but I don't want to take any medication.

Worse, nahawa pa si Yuri. The other day, he developed a cold, too, and just yesterday, he started coughing. I'm praying that his is only a common cold and not as bad as mine.
I want to use home remedies for Yuri, but the elders are persistent in making him take medicine, so I'm giving him little amounts of it. He has been drinking smoothies, too. What else should I do?

Here are my friends when it comes to these situations:
Boogie Wipes to wipe mucus away
Zenutrients Natural Therapy Oil for decongestion. (Last night, I placed some on his feet and covered them with socks. This morning, the socks were all over the bed. Mmmkay.)
Rice powder to avoid irritation (Cologne not included - of course)
Lotsa lotsa water and fluids
Smoothies

What else should I do, mommies, daddies, and non-parentals? This is not the first time Yuri's sick, but I want him to be healed in record-breaking time! (I claim it, Jesus!)

By the way, I'm also thinking of making nasal spray to flush my sinuses. But I can't do that with Yuri. He'll surely hate it and would not stay still. So again, what else do you think I should do?

Rainy Day Essentials

Rainy days are here na for real.

I love the rainy weather. Don't you? Of course, I could not say the same thing way back when I was working in the office. But now that I'm working from home, the colder the better. Ah.

What I don't like about rainy weather, though, is the increased tendency to get sick. Just last week, Job was down with fever and flu. George also told me that my inaanak, Andrei, had singaw yesterday. Now, it's Yuri's turn. Last night, he suddenly had sipon dripping from his nose! (Sorry, TMI! Haha!)

Nevertheless, I don't fret because I already prepared our Rainy Day Essentials (read: cold busters!) way ahead of time:

1. A canister of Boogie Wipes that I have won the other month
2. Disudrin to combat sipon
3. Lotsa lotsa water
4. Vitamin C, which we take everyday: for days with cold, though, we take double dosage.
5. Paracetamol in case of fever: we usually use Calpol but today, we only have Biogesic.
6. Nasal aspirator (I forgot the brand): I usually use this for Yuri at night.
7. KinderCare digital thermometer: I have two other digital thermometers (one in my diaper bag and one in my first-aid kit).

Not in photo: Lotsa lotsa fruits and vegetables

Yuri was a bit hot when we woke up but the temperature immediately subsided when we went downstairs. He still has a cold, but it's not bothering him as much as it did last night. I claim that he will be healed today in Jesus' name. :-)

What about you? What do you usually prepare to combat rainy day illnesses?

Oh, and another thing I don't like about rainy weather is the sleepiness that comes with it. Instead of preparing my blog posts late at night, I find myself sleeping almost as soon as Yuri does! I have a lot of backlog now! Gaaah!

PS: If you have time, please visit this post of mine: 10 Instax Shots, 4 Places, 1 Jolly Family! We went to a couple of places in the city, went to the mall, stayed at home for a mini pool-party, and took photos using an Instax 210 camera provided by Jollibee. I hope you like it!

Photo Dump: Birthday Packages!

I was about to make a post about what makes me happy. However, I think you've had enough of Y and J here and here. Now, let's just talk about what made me smile during my birthday week: packages!

Before anything else, let me clarify that I did not go on a shopping spree. Promise! At most of them ay hindi rin regalo (unfortunately! haha!). It just so happened na may sinalihan akong mga contests and giveaways, at nagkataon na sa birthday ko dumating. Talk about serendipity!

Well, here they are! Brace yourself for a barrage of photos! (Don't say I didn't warn you.)

Boogie Wipes

Boogie Wipes are saline wipes made especially for children's runny and stuffy noses. Whenever Y catches a cold, I had to boil water and mix it with salt to make saline solution. When I heard of Boogie Wipes, naisip ko, wow convenient! However, it is still not available in the city.

But lo and behold! I won a canister of Boogie Wipes plus sample sachets from GoJackieGo's Mother's Day Giveaway. So happy! And Ms. Evee of 3 Busy Bees, Philippines' distributor, was soo nice. May letter pa ako! I want to review this one, pero hindi pa namin nagagamit kasi di pa naman needed. Di rin naman kami nagmamadaling gamitin to. :-P

Belle de Jour Forget-Me-Not Idea Journal, To-Do List, and Money Tracker

I won these cute and practical notepads from BDJ's last survey. They gave these away to the first 500 who answered. Syempre, I answered agad hehe. I think I also won these nung survey last year, but they were not shipping the prices then eh, so hindi ko nakuha. I think lang ha, hindi ako sure.

Anyway, I'm in love with all of them, especially the Money Tracker! This is also my favorite feature in my BDJ Planner eh. But I'm not using them yet because I feel they would be of best use when I'm already managing my own household. As of now, I'll just look at them. They register so nice on the camera no? Photogenic!

Gift from Papa J

And last but not the least, totoong gift na! I mentioned in this post how I didn't ask anything from J na. It's not that I did not want anything from him (I do!). It's just, wala lang, hindi ko naman kailangan ng gift eh. By the way, I mentioned na he just paid for his sibling's tuition fees. Sorry, my mistake. Mga gamit pala ng mga kapatid nya, sorry naman. And he just paid for a seminar last week.

Still, I didn't expect the gift that arrived on my doorstep. Sorry, closeup lang ang photo sa taas para may air of secrecy #chos. But seriously, I was amazed because I have never worn that kind of garment before. When I tried it on, though, pwede! I love it of course!

Side Story:

Actually, there were two more packages delivered to our house last week, but those were diapers from Y (sale kasi sa Lazada). Virtually everyday talaga may dumarating na package that week. When the deliveryman from LBC delivered the Boogie Wipes, eto sabi nya:

Deliveryman: Ma'am, na-wrong spelling po pangalan nyo sa shipping.
Me: Talaga? Buti naman natunton nyo ako!
Deliveryman: Syempre po, pagkakita namin ng address, alam namin kayo yun.
Me: Nge! Hehehe. Sorry naman kuya.
Deliveryman: Para sa bata na naman po ito ma'am?
Me: Hehe opo, premyo lang po.

After a couple of days, another deliveryman delivered J's gift. While I was signing, he said:

Ma'am, fashion-fashion na naman yan no?

Oh no! Kilala na ba ako talaga ng mga taga-LBC? Parang ayoko munang mag-order! Actually, wala pa nga akong inoorder sa lagay na yan! :D
